IELTS Speaking Cards 1-9


Here you can find a comprehensive list of speaking topics. All the topics listed here are frequently asked during the speaking module. Prepare yourself using these speaking topics.Remember fluency, pronunciation and content matters a lot during the speaking session. Try to avoid repetitions and thought blocks while speaking. 1. Describe a prize or award that you received.

    -    What was it?
    -    What you did to get it?
    -    Whether or not others are interested in getting this prize or award?
    -    Explain how you won this prize or award.

2. Describe a place where do you would like to have or build a home.
    -    Where it is?
    -    What the place looks like?
    -    When you first went to this place?
    -    And explain why you would like to live there?

3. Describe something you do to help you to stay healthy.
    -    What you do?
    -    When you started doing this?
    -    How much time you spend doing this?
    -    And explain how this activity helps you stay healthy.

4. Describe a famous person still living, not from your country, who you would like to meet.
    -    Where this person comes from?
    -    How you first learned about him or her?
    -    Why or how this person is famous?
    -    And explain why you would like to meet this person.

5. Describe an old person you know who you respect.
    -    Who it is?
    -    How you know him or her?
    -    How long you have known this person?
    -    And explain why you respect this person?

6. Describe a famous person you are interested in.
    -    How you know about this person?
    -    What sort of life they had before they became famous?
    -    And explain why do you think this person is interesting?

7. Describe a time when you saw an interesting animal.
    -    What animal it was?
    -    Where you saw it?
    -    What happened when you saw it?
    -    And explain why you thought it was interesting.

8. Describe something you borrowed from a family member or a friend.
    -    What it was?
    -    When you borrowed it?
    -    Who you borrowed it from?
    -    And explain why you borrowed it?

9. Describe an important building in your hometown or city.
    -    Where it is?
    -    What it looks like?
    -    What it is used for?
    -    And explain why you think it is important.
