Some people indicate that certain kind of music can promote learning for young children, while many types of research showed that results are mixed. What is your opinion? Use your own experience and observation.

Listening to music is generally considered as a relaxation technique. Although many people are of the view that music therapy can help young students in their studies, many research outcomes proved that this assumption is partially acceptable.

This essay will discuss why assuming the benefits of music on the learning capabilities of children is a mixed concept.

Music helps to improve concentration while learning, and thus it serves in memorizing the subjects studied. More concentration is required to remember the learning material. For example, studying for a long time without any other activities to relax the brain can result in poor concentration. Listening to music in between the study time can help the brain to relax and concentrate more again after the short breaks.

Certain types of music can overstimulate the brain and students lose their interest in learning and may spend more time in other activities. Excessive stimulation of the brain will lead to over-excitement and leads to physical activities. For instance, certain genres of music such as jazz, rock, pop, etc, may encourage the children to dance and may attract them to continue such activities more than studying. Selective pieces of music can only be used as a therapeutic measure to promote learning among young pupils.

This essay discussed why music cannot be considered as a complete method to improve learning outcomes because it has both positive and negative impacts on the learning habits of children. In my opinion, music is not a perfect method to promote the learning capacity of school-age children.
