Some people point that experiential learning (i.e. learning by doing it) can work well in formal education. However, others think a traditional form of teaching is the best. Do you think experiential learning can work well in high schools or colleges?

Experiential learning provides a good opportunity for young professionals to explore the job environment. While some people believe that experiential learning is better for all forms of formal education, others opine that traditional teaching methods are the best. This essay will discuss why experiential learning is not ideal for teaching high school and college students.

Traditional teaching methods are better than the experiential learning method to teach young students because it is focused on developing the core skills in learners. The fundamental skills are better understood by the students in a classroom environment because it needs continuous guidance and evaluation to master the skill. To cite an example, mathematical skills are easily understood when it is explained step by step in the classroom. Hence, it is widely believed that traditional teaching is better to impart core skills essential for the pupils.

Experiential learning is not an efficient method of teaching for high school or college students because it will not improve language and cognitive skills. Students in high school and colleges learn to understand the proper usage of language and develop problem-solving skills when they are taught in a closed learning atmosphere. For instance, students learn to speak and writing skills in different languages better in schools through writing assignments and by speaking with their classmates. Therefore the formal educational method is better than the experiential teaching method.

This essay discussed why experiential learning is not an absolute method of teaching college and school going children because it will not help in developing core skills in learners and it will not improve language and cognitive skills. In my opinion, formal teaching methods are the best to impart knowledge among young students.
