Some people think that preschool children must be taken care of by their elders, while others believe that child care centres are better for a child's development. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Recently, many child care centres are mushrooming in the cities and are expected to provide the best child care service to prospective parents who request the child care home to look after their children. Although this is the latest trend in cities, still in rural areas and in some united families preschool children are looked after by their elders at home.

Here, we cannot disregard one way of child care method with the other. I believe that both the child care centre and the care by elders are equally important and valuable for the growth and development of young children.

First, looking at the child care centres, a preschool child's social interactions and language are well established when trained in a child care centre. The atmosphere created in a child care home is specially regulated to favour the requirements of growth and development in children. For example, toys and educative charts relevant to preschool children are arranged in child care centres and it promotes the psychological growth of children. Thus, child care centres have a prime role in setting standard care of children

Next, looking at the home care provided by the family to young children, it is clear that the home atmosphere boosts the overall development of young children. Children learn language, moral values and tradition of a family through constant exposure to the family members. Family values and beliefs are well transmitted to the children when they are taken care of by their elders at home. Parents and grand-parents help the child to develop core values like love and trust in life. Hence, the importance of child care at home cannot be underestimated.

This essay outlined the importance of both the child care centres and the care provided at home by the elder people. While comparing the importance of one method over the other method of child care it is impossible to completely stand with only one side of the argument in this discussion. Hence, I believe that both methods of child care are equally essential for the overall growth and development of preschool-age children.
