The education system of a country determines various characteristics of its citizens. While some people say that the purpose of education is to develop the workforce of a country and create good citizens, others maintain that education should be aimed at self-fulfilment of the learners. This essay will discuss why the education system should aid in enhancing the earning capacity of people and to make them responsible members of society.

An educational system focused on job skill development and wealth-creation ideas help the people to lead their life effectively in their future and this, in turn, enhances the lifestyle of a whole family itself. Educating children to learn practical skills improves their working power. For example, motor mechanic training classes enable the students' to gain knowledge on repairing motor vehicles which may give added benefit when they start earning. Hence, education focused on job skills improves productivity.

Personality traits of an individual are greatly influenced by education. Education focused on developing ideal personality characteristics can positively influence society. Refraining from physical abuse, for instance, can be taught to children at a very young age and this will create a society free from fights and antisocial behaviour.

This essay discussed why education focused on workforce development and character designing is more important than self-fulfilment. In my opinion, the purpose of the education system is to develop a better workforce for the future.
